Fencing History

Fencing is a high energy full contact combat sport derived from ancient sword play.
Fencing derives its name from the practice of offence and defence with the sword.
The sport of fencing has been in every Olympics of the modern era.
Fencing is split into three disciplines, Foil Epee and Sabre.
Each weapon has its own set of rules that reflect the character and history of the weapon:
Foil
A stabbing weapon with a system of right of way and a restricted target aria.
Epee
A stabbing weapon with no right of way where the whole body is target.
Sabre
A cutting weapon with a system of right of way and a restricted target aria.
